The U.S. Secret Service is investigating how a small bag of what appeared to be cocaine ended up in a hallway near the West Wing of the White House, where visitors can pass through.
The cocaine was discovered in the area of a foyer adjacent to the White House’s West Wing, near a door that is not routinely checked for security, according to a law enforcement source. The source indicated that it wasn’t initially detected upon a routine check of the grounds and that it was not there when the last check was done.
The Secret Service is currently trying to determine how the cocaine ended up in the White House and whether someone smuggled it in or left it there. No other details about the investigation, including who discovered the cocaine, have been released.
