Gun rights group issues ‘travel advisory’ for Massachusetts after lawmaker proposes more firearm restrictions

by

Gun rights group the Gun Owners Action League (GOAL) has issued a travel advisory for any citizen of Massachusetts after a state lawmaker proposed additional firearms restrictions. The group says that anyone considering travelling to the state should be wary, as they could be subject to overly broad and restrictive laws regarding guns and ammunition.

GOAL specifically highlighted proposed bill HD.4546, which would amend the current assault weapons ban to include semi-automatic rifles with a “high-capacity” magazine, thus banning AR-15-style rifles and firearms with removable magazines.

The organization responded to the proposal by calling it an “insult to firearms owners” and warned that any travelers to Massachusetts must be aware that their actions are subject to laws and regulations that may be “outside the realm of common sense.” The group also noted that many states and cities surrounding Massachusetts have much different laws that may offer more liberty for gun owners.

While GOAL’s travel advisory is not legally binding, it is a signal to all gun owners and travelers that they should remain vigilant in staying up to date with state laws and regulations regarding firearms, as this could have serious implications if they are found in violation.
