His recent endorsement of Alabama Senator Roy Moore is a prime example of the president’s ongoing efforts to appease the fringe elements of his base. His controversial remarks about Charlottesville also come to mind when discussing the president’s tendency to align himself with figures whose views are far to right of the mainstream.
