In December 2020, former North Dakota Governor John Hoeven had his car stolen while he was guest hosting a radio show on KFGO. Hoeven had left his car running outside the station with the keys inside while he was live on-air.

A nearby witness spotted the vehicle being taken, and reported it to the police. They later identified the vehicles location and detained the suspect. Hoeven’s car was eventually found safe and unharmed. The suspect was later released and no charges were filed.
