House Majority Leader Steve Scalise diagnosed with blood cancer

According to multiple reports, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise has been diagnosed with a form of blood cancer known as primary myeloid leukemia. Scalise has been hospitalized since June 14th after being shot during a Congressional baseball practice and is said to be in good spirits as he continues to receive treatment. Scalise has received several visits from his family and congressional colleagues and is receiving support from fellow lawmakers from both sides of the aisle. It is not yet known how long Scalise’s treatment will take, but it has been reported that he is expected to make a full recovery.
