Fire consumes oil depot in St. Petersburg

On May 15, 2021, an oil depot near St. Petersburg, Russia, was engulfed in flames after a fire broke out at the facility. The incident occurred when employees were attempting to refuel a tank with diesel fuel. One employee was injured as a result of the fire and taken to a local hospital for treatment, but their condition is currently unknown.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, although the fire has been extinguished by a fire brigade that was sent to the site. The fire was reported to have caused significant damage to portions of the facility, with as many as 2,500 tonnes of fuel being destroyed.

No additional casualties have been reported, and no environmental damage has been reported as a result of the fire. Fire crews remain onsite to monitor the situation and ensure that all risks are safely managed.
