Josue (Josh) Ledezma, a former aide to President Joe Biden, has won the special Congressional primary in Rhode Island’s 1st district. Ledezma prevailed Tuesday over incumbent David Cicilline and two other Democratic challengers. He will face Republican Jeff Lemire in the general election on August 10. Ledezma, 32, worked as a regional political director in Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. He is a former special assistant to Governor Gina Raimondo and has worked as an adviser to both former Rhode Island Governors Lincoln Chafee and Don Carcieri. Ledezma campaigned on addressing global warming, rebuilding American infrastructure, and creating jobs in the green economy.
