Organizers of the Mexico City Marathon are investigating claims of cheating after more than 100 runners experienced suspicious times in the race. Some runners had suspiciously quick times that would have required them to run faster than the average pace for the course. Marathon officials are currently reviewing photos, videos, and chip-timing data to determine if the suspicious times can be confirmed. The entire results of the race are on hold as the investigation is ongoing. If anyone is found to have cheated, they will be disqualified from the results and asked to return any prize money. Runners who cheated and are identified will also face possible bans from future races.
