Russia reportedly gave North Korean leader Kim Jong Un an inside look at its newest military hardware when he visited earlier this year. According to reports, Kim had the chance to inspect a fighter jet, frigate, and other aircraft while touring the Ship Repair Facility in Tartus, Syria. He was accompanied by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Korolyov, as well as the Russian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev. Experts claim that the visit was aimed at showing Kim the latest military developments in Russia in preparation for any future conflict in the Korean peninsula. During the visit, Kim reportedly stated that North Korea was ready to upgrade its military hardware with Russian technology.
