Turkey has conducted airstrikes targeting the Kurdish militant group known as the PKK following the Ankara terror attack. The airstrikes were conducted in the northern Iraqi region, targeting PKK bases, weapons depots and gun positions. Turkey has also increased security measures in the cities by beefing up police presence and increasing aerial and ground patrols. It is reported that the government also plans to expand its operations into other areas of Kurdistan and the wider region. The Turkish government has vowed to “continue to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of its citizens,” and to “eradicate terrorism.”
