Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has defended the country’s airstrikes in Gaza, saying they are directed at terror targets. “We are fighting terror. We will continue to fight terror,” Rivlin said at a meeting of the Israeli cabinet on Sunday. “Our message is clear: We will not allow any form of terror to threaten the citizens of Israel. We must maintain the security of ourselves and our troops.” The airstrikes come in response to a barrage of rockets fired by Hamas and other militant groups from the besieged strip into Israel since Thursday. At least 25 Palestinians have been killed in the airstrikes and several other buildings have been destroyed.
