Tim Scott-aligned super PAC pulls plug on ads as senator’s 2024 GOP presidential campaign struggles

by

The Conservative Harmony PAC, a super PAC aligned with South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott, has ended its advertising campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire amid struggles for the senator’s nascent 2024 presidential campaign.

The decision to pull the plug came after the PAC, launched last month by Scott’s former campaign aides, raised less than $200,000 – well short of its goal. In addition, a financial disclosure filed with the Federal Election Commission showed that the super PAC did not transfer any money from contributors to media vendors.

Scott’s aides downplayed the decision to end the advertising campaign, telling the Associated Press that it was simply part of a “dynamic changes in a rapidly changing campaign landscape.” They added that the super PAC, which will continue to support the senator through grassroots organizing and “other opportunities,” could still support Scott’s presidential ambitions with additional campaigns.

The development suggests President Donald Trump remains the Republican Party’s presumptive 2024 nominee and underscores the difficulty Scott will face in the primaries ahead of his attempt to become the first Black president.

Although Scott, a frequent visitor to Iowa and New Hampshire, has yet to officially launch his White House bid, the launch of the super PAC was seen as a sign that he was serious about a run.
