On February 16, 2021, an explosion rocked Gaza City, sending a huge plume of smoke into the sky. The blast’s exact cause has yet to be determined, although the blast is thought to have been caused by a fire in a fuel store belonging to the ruling Hamas party.

At least six people were injured in the blast and some buildings near the site of the explosion suffered damage. The Gaza Health Ministry said that two people were transported to hospital with serious injuries, while four others were treated at the scene. It is unknown if any deaths accompanied the blast, although this has been ruled out thus far.

The explosion occurred at a fuel store in the Al-Rimal area of Gaza City. It is believed that a gas tank exploded, causing a huge column of smoke. In the wake of the explosion, Hamas officials declared a state of emergency in the area and ordered evacuations.

At this time, it is not clear what caused the explosion. The incident is still under investigation but it is believed that a fire in the fuel store may have been the cause. The effects of this explosion are still being felt in Gaza, as the fuel store was a major source of supplies for the city.
