In June 2020, Coca-Cola removed language from a post on Twitter that had previously referenced Black Lives Matter. The original post was accused of being pro-Hamas by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and was later criticized by President Donald Trump. The company had originally posted a message affirming its commitment to racial justice and had referenced both Black Lives Matter and the #UniteBehindTheBadge hashtag, which recognized the work of police officers. Coca-Cola was reportedly monitoring the backlash to the post, and after learning of Cruz’s comments, the company deleted its language supporting Black Lives Matter.
