The war between Israel and Hamas has forced the Arab citizens of Israel to explain that they are not part of Hamas and that their loyalty does not lie with the organization. Arab citizens of Israel have released statements showcasing their commitment to peace and condemning Hamas’ actions. Furthermore, they have taken part in peaceful protests in support of a diplomatic solution and the end of violence. They are also pushing for equal citizenship and rights within an Israeli context. Some, however, have found themselves in precarious positions, forced to defend themselves from accusations of allegiances to Hamas and facing suspicion from mainstream Israeli society.
