The House of Representatives voted largely along party lines on July 17, 2019, with Republicans in the majority to condemn anti-Israel remarks made by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. No Democrats voted in favor of the motion that was put forward to formally censure Tlaib, while only four Republicans voted against it. Democrats were unable to successfully shield Tlaib from the vote of censure due to Republican control of the House of Representatives. However, Democrats were successful in amending the resolution to make it less critical of Tlaib and her remarks.
