Gaza’s largest hospital, Shifa, has become the “epicenter” of Israel’s war on Hamas as a result of the Israeli military’s growing use of air power, shelling, and drone strikes against targets located in and around the hospital. The attacks have resulted in significant damage to the hospital and its infrastructure, as well as the deaths of several patients and staff members. Shifa is located just a few kilometers away from the Israeli border, making it particularly vulnerable to targetting by the Israeli military. Furthermore, due to the ongoing blockade of the Gaza Strip, the hospital has been forced to rely on inadequate supplies of medical equipment and drugs for the health care of its patients. As such, the hospital has become a symbol of the daily suffering of the people of Gaza and the abuse of their human rights.
