Search and rescue operations are underway after a U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command MC-130 aircraft crashed off the coast of Japan.

The aircraft, with 5 crew members aboard, was conducted training maneuvers when it crashed shortly after midnight local time.

The United States 7th Fleet has launched search and rescue operations, and US Navy, Air Force, and Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force assets are being deployed to support them.

The Japanese Coast Guard is also providing assistance to the US side.

We are deeply saddened by the incident and will provide updates as soon as they become available. Our thoughts and prayers are with the crew members and their families.
