The UAW has a long history of attempting to unionize autoworkers at Toyota, Honda, and other non-unionized automakers. However, the UAW’s recent victory over the Big Three automakers has emboldened many of these autoworkers to take action and form unions themselves. Tens of thousands of autoworkers at plants owned by Toyota, Honda, and other non-union automakers have begun organizing, and many of these organizing drives have already succeeded in bringing a union into their workplace. In some cases, these successes have come as a direct result of the Big Three victory, as workers at non-unionized plants have seen the success of their counterparts and decided to take similar steps in forming their own unions and bargaining for better wages and working conditions. The Big Three victory is also having a ripple effect across other industries, as workers in other sectors have seen the successes of the UAW and are now inspired to take similar action.
