Taiwan police have reportedly targeted crypto influencers believed to have been involved in a betting market, called Polymarket, which allowed users to place bets on the upcoming U.S. 2020 election. According to a report from Focus Taiwan, investigators from the Hsinchu district criminal investigation bureau in northern Taiwan became interested in the case after receiving a tip-off about the illegal betting. The bureau then tracked down the users involved in the election betting and arrested four suspects believed to be behind the betting activity. Among the suspects were two well-known cryptocurrency influencers, who police allege also operated a Facebook page dedicated to trading crypto assets. The report did not name the two influencers.
