by

The 2 children were swept away Monday night near the Conodoguinet Creek in West Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County. https://t.co/Nz5fOWYZ45 — NBC Philadelphia (@NBCPhiladelphia) August 20, 2019

Officials said the two children were dragged away into the rapids after they moved to move to safety from their current location. A group of six children and two adults had attempted to cross the flooded creek when the incident occurred. The adults made it to safety but the two children fell victim to the raging currents.

The search for the missing children continued Tuesday morning with divers and boats scouring the creek for any clues. Emergency personnel, including multiple police and fire departments, are aiding in the successful search and rescue.

The names of the two missing children have yet to be released. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during the search and rescue efforts.
