Lee is expected to weaken as it moves away from the Canadian and northeast United States coasts.
The system is expected to remain a strong post-tropical cyclone with gusty winds and some coastal flooding, but the winds should gradually diminish over the next few days.

Lee moved across the Canadian Maritimes overnight, bringing hurricane-force winds, heavy rain, and coastal flooding to parts of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Along the US east coast, heavy rain and strong winds of up to 70 mph (113 km/h) were reported, along with minor flooding.

As Lee moves away from the region, the storm is forecast to weaken and eventually become a low-pressure system by Thursday morning. The National Hurricane Center issued its final advisory for the storm early Thursday morning, as Lee’s maximum sustained winds had dropped to 40 mph (64 km/h).

The storm is forecast to continue its eastward track through the north Atlantic before dissipating.

Current warnings for the northeast US and Canadian Maritimes are now largely focused on hazardous seas and beach erosion caused by strong waves. People should avoid the shoreline and be careful when navigating in and around water, as the large waves could pose a hazard or even overturn boats.

Further inland, the rain and gusty winds have passed, but people should remain cautious of any localized flooding that could occur.
