The market for third-party candidates is hot. But who could catch on?

by

Although it is difficult for third-party candidates to gain significant support in the U.S., there are several who could potentially catch on in the future. Independent candidate Roque (Rocky) De La Fuente has made several presidential runs since 2016, and his anti-establishment message could be well-received. Libertarian candidate and tech entrepreneur John McAfee is also a potential contender, with his message of small government and civil liberties. Former Ohio Governor John Kasich ran as a Republican in 2016, but his more moderate message could resonate with voters should he choose to run as an independent in 2020 or beyond. Other third-party candidates who may gain attention in the future include independent conservative Evan McMullin and Green Party candidates Jill Stein and David Cobb.
