Cruise, the GM-owned robotaxi unit, has announced the resignation of its chief executive officer, Kyle Vogt.

Vogt, who had been in charge of Cruise since October 2019, cited personal reasons for his departure. He will stay on the team in an advisory role.

In a statement, GM Cruise President Dan Ammann thanked Vogt for his contribution to the company, adding that Cruise was “grateful for his leadership and the extraordinary vision he brought to the company during such a formative period.”

GM has yet to announce who will replace Vogt. The current team will lead Cruise until a new CEO is identified. However, Ammann did not rule out a search for external candidates.
