Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has offered to testify publicly before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about his work for an impoverished Ukrainian energy company. In a statement released Wednesday night, Biden said he wanted to “clear his name and provide additional information” to the American public, but added that he would only testify after “reaching an appropriate accommodation with the Committee” regarding potential legal consequences. The Committee’s Republican chairman, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, has said his panel will invite Biden to testify when it holds a hearing into the ongoing controversy over the President’s alleged attempt to pressure Ukraine to investigate his political rivals. Biden said he would “gladly uphold the same standard of skiff disclosure of any other private citizen.”
