According to news reports, the death toll from flooding in Somalia has climbed to nearly 100 as the country faces its worst flooding in more than two decades. The floods have displaced more than 400,000 people and destroyed homes, crops, and livestock across the region. In addition, United Nations and African Union officials have warned that the flooding could worsen if international aid is not sent soon. The flooding has been exacerbated by a lack of proper drainage infrastructure, exacerbated by years of war that has left much of Somalia’s infrastructure in disrepair.
