Donald Trump has continued to take aim at fellow Republicans, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump recently suggested the Florida governor was part of a “chorus of establishment Republicans” that was “unfairly criticizing” the president’s trade policies with China.

In response, DeSantis tweeted that he had been a “tireless advocate” for Trump’s trade policies and said that Trump’s tariffs on Chinese goods have helped Florida farmers and businesses, rather than harmed them. Trump doubled down on his criticism, citing news reports that DeSantis received support from a Chinese company in his run for governor and implying that this influenced his criticism of the President’s China policy.

DeSantis has denied any impropriety and defended his support for Trump’s trade policy. Trump’s accusations have been criticized as an attempt to create a false dispute between the two Republican leaders in order to divide and distract from the real issues at hand.
